public tactical reenactment and living history display - france, 1944, the battle for normandy
pacific northwest historical group will be putting on a massive wwii display. come see reenactors wearing authentic uniforms, driving authentic vehicles, and utilizing authentic wwii tactics to re-live the key battles of the battle for france in 1944. free of cost and open to all ages.
fort stevens is a wwii coastal artillery base and part of a fort system designed to protect the mouth of the columbia river. although the fort was shelled by japanese submarines during wwii, it never returned fire. it has since been turned into a state park. stay overnight and enjoy the superb camping facilities next to an elaborate fort structure that is open for the public to walk through. the battle reenactments will be in the historical area not in the camping area. although there is a bike/walking path that connects the two areas, they are otherwise separate. a $3-$4 parking fee will be charged by the museum. click here to learn more fort stevens.
